Poets Ward

The Poets ward in Luton was created in May 2023 with new boundaries to better reflect local communities. It is located between the M1 motorway and the east of Dunstable. 

Demographics and population

  • Ethnicity: Based on a Luton Borough Council profile, the ward is highly diverse. The largest ethnic group is White (45.0%), followed by Asian (27.9%) and Black (17.6%).
  • Age: Along with the Stopsley and Bramingham wards, Poets has a higher proportion of older residents compared to the Luton average.
  • Tenure: A higher percentage of residents in Poets own their homes (outright or with a mortgage) compared to the Luton average (68.0% versus 54.5%). A smaller proportion rent privately (23.0% versus 29.0%).
