I would like to thank all my supporters who gave me invaluable help, encouragement and yes, sometimes constructive criticism, throughout the Campaign.

Unfortunately national events beyond my control have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory !

I congratulate my Conservative colleagues who are elected.
